BACKGROUND

Masha Cermak, originally Masha Palenkova, was born in
lower-class Russia to her mother and older sister in 1986.

Masha's life was turbulent from the very start, being a witness to domestic violence and abuse towards her sister. Her mother using unethical, illegal means to keep themselves afloat (drug trading). Masha's childhood was unstable and was often being neglected by her father and tormented by her older sister Catherine.

Masha and her family (excluding her father) immigrated to the United States in 1994, moving Koval, Colorado. A town in northern Calorado with a decent Slavic population, making adapting to the country slightly easier.
Masha was initially looked as weird during her first few years in Koval due to her English being limited along with her quiet, stand-off-ish demeanor. Other children in elementary school were initally weirded out by her, though with time, she became well liked and got more social.

TEEN YEARS

Masha's teenage years, despite having a supportive friend group, were troublesome, often acting out as a result of physical abuse.
The already existing turmoil between Masha and Catherine worsened as she got to her teens, the lengths she suffered escalated.

During her teens, she became short-tempered and often expressed aggressive behavior, occasionally getting into fights at school and purposefully being offensive (generally offending people she didn't like for whatever reason).

Aside from her aggression, Masha also became much more withdrawn from her family, staying out of the house for as long as possible until her mother would call begging her to come home.

In 2001, with the stress in both the country and her personal life, Masha would develop multiple unhealthy coping mechanisms, somewhat indirectly responsible for her eating disorder. Bulimia.
Masha would often binge eat in order to cope, causing her to feel sick and guilty resulting in her purging.

DOWNFALL

Masha was well like amongst her peers, having a large social circle and going out with some of her closer friends frequently. Though, this would all change after rumors started to circulate during the middle of her senior year of high school.

Word had got out of her sexuality after being in a relationship with Vicky, who was experimenting with girls. Vicky and Masha were together for 5 months before breaking up.
People, getting word that Masha was a lesbian, some thought it was cool, others were disgusted and some wanted to fuck around and start shit. Unfortunately, this was the fault of her ex-girlfriend who didn't expect word to get this far.

Whether it be comparing her to Ellen Degeneres or accusing her of being a female rapist (started and spread by Catherine).
The rumors of her being a pervert and even a rapist would spread, causing her reputation to be tarnished and to be cut off by most of her former friend group aside from Dill.

Dill was very aware that everything was false due to knowing her longer than most other people in her circle, aware that everything could've came from Catherine, especially after he encountered her.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE

From the growing stress of her Catherine's increasingly violent outbursts along with her life in general, she sought to escape. Masha smoked weed and would drink occasionally but this would incrase by the time she turned 16.

Smoking weed and drinking stolen vodka and burbon would no longer be enough to obstruct the pain, eventually moving on to harder substances (mostly downers) such as benzos like Xanax.
She would continue to sink deeper into her addiction before becoming almost entirely reliant on Vicodin (initially stolen from her mother, then started paying others to get them for her).

DEATH

Masha would get extremely depressed and increasingly violent due to her injuries from her older sister.
Despite Masha trying to keep her laid back, sarcastic attitude, her facade started to crack.
Getting fired from the computer store she worked at due to being high on the job becoming a huge problem and being rude to customers.

Masha would arrive to Dill's house after dissapearing on everyone for 2 weeks, being in the hospital from a bad concusion. Dill and Masha hung out for a few hours though, it felt akward.
Masha left in a hurry, carrying a large satchel and leaving another bag containing years of her personal journals.
The teenager, on a high amount of Vicodin, was still alert from the adrenaline she felt as she was about to execute her plan.

This was her last day on Earth.

As a way to express how she felt, she carjacked and murdered the man inside along with accidently running another man over, who died later from his injuries.

Masha wasn't entirely aware of her surroundings, only aware of her mission and the end goal. Finally being free from the burden of existence and knowing Catherine would be going to hell.
Arriving home, she expressed how Catherine made her life hell since childhood and shot her in the shoulder, though, she would end up surviving.

Ending this all with Masha recording 5 tapes venting and explaining why she did what she did before shooting herself in the face (a part of that was viewable in one of the recordings).

AFTERMATH

Masha's murder's (eventually her recordings) were covered by the media and gained widespread attraction. Mostly vitriol but some sympathized and justified her actions due to her being driving to that point by abuse.

The case of Masha Cermak gained widespread attention, not just because her murder was the first ever murder in the last 30 years but nation wide.
This was due to being one of the first teenage murderers to have an extensive online presence and the amount of details about her that were released.

After death, her grave was heavily vandalized and cracked due to her actions along a mob mentality.

3 years later in November of 2006,
Masha's body was taken in by a "mortician" to be experimented on and eventually brought back to life. Masha was initally dissapointed and angry with this though, grew to see this as a second chance to live a better life.
Masha as a living dead girl lives with a woman named Quinn and sleeps in chest freezers. She has all the freedom she dreamed of since she technically doesn't exist anymore, commiting myriad of crimes, mostly pretaining to vandalism and destruction of property.

APPEARANCE

Short in stature, standing at only 5'2.

Masha also appears overweight. Pale with blonde hair (styled in a side part) and blue eyes, both her remaining eye and lips have a black-blue hue to them (though around her eyes, most of it is eyeshadow).

She has greyish skin covered in different colored patches of skin from being experimented on post-mortem, she also has a skin graft covering over half of her face including what she has of her left eye.

She primarily wears a dark green tank top, brown cargo skirt, platformed loafers (stolen), cheap fishnet arm warmers with bracelets over them along with wearing chipped light-blue nail polish.

PERSONALITY

Sarcastic with a dry sense of humor. Funny and a but stubborn. Can be aggressive though, cares a lot about her friends.
