Brief Synopsis

Taken from a portion of the site.

Fɘign follows 4 individuals, though, centers a teenage girl named Masha Cermak and her older sister Catherine during the years of 1994-2009. Masha's life was turbulent from the instability of her environment. Despite this, Masha's life would take a downward spiral during her adolescence, culminating in uncertainty and lies.

Fɘign (yes the backwards 'e' is necessary) centers on 17-year-old Masha Cermak, Dill Dillon along with Masha's older sister Catherine.
The life between the two sisters was chaotic, often marked by violence between the two. The violence was initially one sided starting from Catherine's misguided anger and jealousy, later worsened by mental illness. Catherine felt that the violence that she was inflicting on her younger sister was justified for the things that she had supposedly done to warrent it, both physically and emotionally.
Masha was in a secret relationship with a freind of her's,
Vicky.

Shortly after their relationship was established, words started to circulate throughout her social circle, school which eventually got to her Catherine. As a result, the girl expereienced rampant homophobia, which was exacerbated by Catherine. Catherine used this time to further tarnish Masha's reputation and isolate her.

One afternoon, Dill had Masha over in an effort to try to make her feel better. Masha left abruptly stating that she didn't have much time, giving him her bag containing journals with no explanation before leaving his house one final time.

The abuse and isolation caused her to go on an opioid fueled killing spree.
This rampage would end in Masha's death, after her death fabricated recollections spread about her actions and as a person.

AFTERMATH

In Autumn of 2006,

Quinn, a woman who became interested in Masha upon details about her life were released. Quinn grew curious about the details that were recalled by Catherine after being interviewed, feeling that some things didn't quite add up. Quinn figured that the only way to know what really happened was from the source.
Going to the teenager's grave and retrieving her corpse, took her in for experimentation.

Several weeks of experimentation led to Quinn's successful attempt to revive the dead. Quinn bombarded Masha with questions only for her to not remember enough for a solid recollection.

MEDIA COVERAGE

The shooting gained attention among the local media along with what others had to say about the young murderer. The reason for all the attention was what the victim claimed about the events leading to it all. Catherine made statements about her dead sister during and after recovering from her injuries.
With the claims by others and the media coverage, Masha, even in death, continued to be the subject of vitriol those who knew her and those who did not.
Dill often justified Masha's actions as a reaction from years of repeated physical and psychological abuse, despite having damning claims and evidence against Catherine, he was ignored and criticized.

Sample from 2004 article

"The teenage girl was well liked by many and had several people who were close to her before words started to circulate among her friend groups, allegedly coming from her older sister. The 17-year old often spoke negatively about her older sister."

...

"The aftermath of it all leaves a lot of people divided. Those who condemmed her actions and the smaller minority that justified them. Wallace Dillon, a friend of Cermak's, justified her actions as a reaction from years of torment at the hands of her older sister."
